Starting in Ralún we drive by car to the Cayutúe valley to start our hike at a height of 500 m over sea level where you will enjoy an overwhelming view over Reloncaví Fjord. We follow a trail along a rivulet bed which accompanies us most of our way passing through ancient forests of native trees like coigües, mañios, ulmos, tepas, giant farns and wonderful fuchsias. After a light walk of about 2 hours we arrive at the meadows surrounding Cayetúe Lake where we have a rest and can swim and enjoy a good meal in this marvelous landscape with an incomparable view over the lake with forested hills and Puntiagudo volcano in the background. The duration of our stay at the lagoon depends mainly on your time availability. Ideally and if climate allows us to do so, we stay all afternoon at the lake to enjoy a wonderful day at the beach. Tell us your preferences so that we will be able to offer you a day to your taste.

Petrohue River used to offer us excellent fishing opportunities and we could fish in the emerald green waters of this wonderful river rainbow trouts, brown trouts, salmons and during their season the amazing Chinooks. Since Calbuco volcano erupted in April 2015 huge amounts of ashes, the river's water becomes after strong rainfalls or snow melt frequently loaded with sediments and supended matter of these ashes so that the fish needs to search for clearer water.
The beauty of this river attracts us anyway, so that we offer the fishing trip with the option to change over to another nearby river, if Petrohué is full of ash sediments. This is how we can offer a nice fishing day without depending on the specific influences on Petrohué river and if weather conditions are favourable we go fishing on Petrohué river, for sure!

Our hiking trips in Ralún take profit from the marvelous landscape of Petrohué river's valley and of the surrounding mountains which stand tall at the lower river valley until the river's mouth to Relonvaví Fjord. On this tour you will see uncomparable panoramic views, you will be crossing ancient and new forests of endemic trees as well as meadows. This trail has been carved into the earth during decades of the people home to this area simply passing by. One of our trail options leads you through a stony gorge uphill where the rivulet further upwards gains speed. Here you can admire stones grown all over with moss and lined with giant farns. We offer this trip also passing by less demanding trails which are not less steep anyway as well as easier to go trails which also lead to beautiful outlooks on the landscape. According to the weather conditions we can round off this day jumping into the cool water of Petrohué river.

For paddling on our smaller rivers and rivulets we definitely wait for rain to fall as it opens path to many rivers and rivulets where we normally can't navigate easily. This is also the case on Cochamó River that according to it's water level and rainfall during the past few days offers us everything in between a wonderful calm trip on almost flat water and a demanding and fast running river, where we can spend our time playing on the waves. This is why this is an activity which needs a short reservation period - unless you are ready to change your choosen date or the river to play on.
If you are already decided to explore Cochamó River by kayak contact us to ask for the actual or forecasted conditions for your desired date.
